Design Degree Capstone Project 2024
Context:
This project encapsulates the proposal and execution of a comprehensive design endeavor aimed at solving a societal problem. My project is designed to empower novice young women aged 18-24 in educating themselves about makeup products, application, and techniques.
It serves as a culmination of the undergraduate program, offering students like myself an opportunity to apply contemporary design methods in a practical, hands-on manner. By developing actionable design proposals and executing a polished project, I have deepened my understanding of design practices while making a tangible impact on a real-world problem.

A comprehensive solution designed for young women so they can gain a deeper understanding of cosmetic products and enable them to create a routine that works for their needs. Through a multi-faceted approach, I aim to streamline the learning process, foster a community, and ultimately boost self-confidence.
Key Deliverables
Brochure
A concise yet informative guide meticulously crafted to describe fundamental makeup techniques and knowledge. With clear visuals and step-by-step instructions, the brochure serves as a go-to resource, eliminating the need for exhaustive research and guesswork.
Poster
A visually captivating poster strategically designed to reinforce essential tips and tricks. Placed in accessible spaces, it serves as a daily reminder and quick reference guide, promoting continuous learning and skill refinement.
Online Community - Thread
An inclusive online platform curated exclusively for novice young women passionate about makeup. Here, they can connect, share experiences, seek advice, and celebrate successes. Guided by seasoned mentors and fellow enthusiasts, the community fosters a supportive environment conducive to growth and exploration.
Beginner to Baddie - Poster
The goal of this poster is to serve as a reference for women to use when applying their makeup. Some features include an order of application, product definitions, and a contour/ eyeliner guide.
The purpose is to provide novices with all the information they need thats relevant to makeup application in the most streamlined and simple way.
The aesthetically pleasing nature of the poster is intentional, giving women the option to hang the poster in their room or bathroom mirror for quick access, and doubles as room decor.
Beginner to Baddie - Brochure
The beginner’s guide brochure is designed to simplify concepts that are important to know before purchasing makeup products and building your makeup routine. Essential information includes finding your skin type, undertones, and how to look at product ingredients.
Beginner to Baddie -Online Community
Every person has their own unique skin concerns and sensitivities. Finding products that meet your needs is not always easy, and looking for recommendations online can feel deceiving if the source is being sponsored by a brand. The main feature of the Beginner to Baddie website is the ability to share and receive recommendations with people who are just like you.
The online community is inspired by services such as Reddit and Threads. The idea is that people can like others posts to boost it, save and comment on posts, and share them with friends. Additionally, there are filters or hashtags to sort through the content faster to find what you are looking for.
